Living A Life Of Legacy

“I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things hidden from the beginning, that we have heard and known and our fathers have relayed to us. We will not hide them from their children but will declare to the next generation the praises of the LORD and His might and the wonders He has performed.” Psalm 78:2-4 BSB

A NEW BIRTH

Recently, my husband and I experienced the joy of becoming first time grandparents! Truly, there is nothing like it! As I held our grandchild, tears flowed as everyone sang Happy Birthday for the first time. I gazed at every precious detail of each finger and toe. I watched in amazement each time this precious child took a breath, yawned, and briefly opened his eyes! I marveled at the strength and grace my daughter and son-in-law displayed just hours after giving birth! It was truly a celebration of a brand new life!

LIVING A LIFE OF LEGACY

As my husband and I have entered the second half of our lives, I feel the weight of the mandate from the Lord to leave a Godly legacy to our children, our grandchildren, and to a generation not yet born! It is our desire to run and to finish our race well!

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 6:6-7 NIV

Our roles change as our children leave the nest, spread out their wings, and launch out into the world to live out their callings. In many instances, our roles can and will fluctuate. We graduate from parental provider and protector to coach, mentor and friend — all while still holding the title of parent. Even so, we hold and value the high calling to love well, pray often for our children, and to pour into future generations!

I want to encourage you today. Whatever season of life you are in, begin to think about legacy. What you do today can make an eternal difference tomorrow. There are those in need of what you carry! Continue to run your race well! Be faithful in the little things and God will entrust you with more. When you are praying, mentoring, and pouring into those whom God has entrusted to you, you are storing up generational blessings and building a Godly legacy. You are building a rich spiritual inheritance for the next generation.

“Let this be recorded for a generation to come, so that a people yet to be created may praise the LORD:” Psalm 102:18 ESV

PRAYER

I hear the Lord saying, “My child, do not underestimate the power of your prayers! Truly, your prayers can move mountains! Your prayers are shifting things that you do not currently see in the moment! Both the spiritual realm and the natural realm are directed and created from your fervent prayers! Do not lose heart, for what you see as fragmented and broken, God sees as the building blocks for your restoration and wholeness! I am the God of restoration. I make all things new! Keep praying! Keep sowing! Keep loving! Truly, your prayers and intercession avail much! You are building a legacy that you will only see the fullness of when I receive you to Myself in Heaven!”

REST IN ME

“My child, I am calling you to rest in Me! My mercies and grace are new every morning! Do not waste your grace for today by worrying about the events of tomorrow. Rest in Me, for I am with you now and I will be with you as you face each of your tomorrows. Hand in hand, we will navigate whatever challenges will come our way. As promised to you in My word, I will never leave you or forsake you! Truly I am the friend that sticks closer to you than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).”

“Empty yourself of all self reliance and look to Me! I am your All Sufficient One! The rocky path that you are currently experiencing is changing quickly! I will bring the refreshing rain of My Spirit that you have been crying out for! I will pour the water of My Spirit into your thirsty soul.”

“He turns a desert into pools of water, a parched land into springs of water.” Psalm 107:35 ESV

Beloved one, prophesy to your desert places and watch what I will do! Your best days are truly ahead of you! I come to renew your strength and restore your joy! Look to Me and watch as I make all things new,” says the Lord of Hosts!

“For behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” Isaiah 65:17 BSB

“He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.” Revelation 21:5 NIV
