“The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.”
Psalms 23:1-3
Recently during a powerful encounter with the Lord, I saw a picture of myself resting in a lush green pasture beside a gentle stream of water. The Lord was next to me with his staff in hand, and I was immediately reminded of Psalm 23.
In this encounter, the Lord continued to stand next to me, protecting me as I rested. I knew that I was completely safe as He was lovingly standing guard over me as the Good Shepard does. As he continued to minister such peace to me, I kept hearing the the phrase, “Just rest.”
I sense the Lord’s heart of encouragement for his people, as many have been in a seemingly endless battle. Yet amidst the chaos, the Lord is urging us to simply abide in Him and to enter a place of supernatural rest. As we do, we will experience His peace that surpasses all human understanding.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:7
God is also encouraging us to praise Him by decreeing his word, even if the natural circumstances look contrary. Truly, there is power in our words. As written, the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat it’s fruit (Proverbs 18:21).
“What you decide on will be done, and light will shine on your ways.”
Job 22:28
Beloved, know that the Lord is working all things for good. Refuse to get weary in the waiting, and don’t be discouraged by the warfare that you’ve been experiencing. Know that the Lord is fighting for you, and he wants you to rest and abide in Him. He is the Good Shepard, lovingly standing guard over you, protecting you from all harm. No weapon formed against you shall prosper!
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
Exodus 14:14
“‘No weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me,’ declares the LORD.”
Isaiah 54:17
